OK,
So needless to say that I am pretty excited about coaching NFL Flag Football in January. I was able to help out/coach a little bit with my youngest son's flag football team during his first season and even though my oldest son's coach wasn't as receptive to me on the sidelines I was able to absorb as much information as I could to make that tough decision... TO COACH, or NOT TO COACH... I chose to start with NFL Flag Football since I figured it would be a good way to introduce me to the world of football coaching & to be able to spend more time with my sons.
Now, I will say that my Eldest son's reaction to me wanting to coach was not what I expected. Actually, it was NOTHING like what I expected. He was very clear that he did not want me to be his coach. Now, as heartbreaking as it was to realize that I wasn't my sons favorite person to teach him about football, I quickly shrugged it off when my younger son said, "Daddy, will you be MY coach?!" What was I gonna say but "YES!!!"
Of course, my first thought was, "Do I get to pick the DOLPHINS as my team? If not, can I get the Steelers? The answer to those questions came quick... Those 2 teams have been chosen, please give us another pick... So, what team has a bunch of Miami Hurricanes on it & performs up to the standard that I would hope my little ones will? The RAVENS!!! So, that's my team for my first season....
So, here I am. I just sent out an email to the parents of the players that will be on my 5 -6 year old team & introduced myself. I'm searching online for as many FREE ideas, plays, information that I can find so that I can be a good coach & not let my son, his soon to be teammates & myself down. That's why I started this blog... To keep track of my career as a coach.
Wish me luck world... Cuz' I'm READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!
Coach Carlos
It's gonna be one heck of a season!
