So, in case anyone out there didn't get a chance to read my post yesterday... 1st - SHAME ON YOU! 2nd- I got an email from the SVFL that Flag football would be starting up next week. Granted that's not really a lot of time to get all my stuff ready, but I have a certain mindset about this and it comes down to this:
Winning isn't everything... It's the Only thing!!! *well, kind of... As a parent, I want to say that I want my son to learn and have fun, but I also want to make sure that I make my team feel like winners. George Carlin did say something really smart when he said that we are making this generation "too soft"... Beleive me... Kids know when they lose a game. They know when they get the snot beat out of them on the field. I don't want that to happen to my kids.
Do I expect us to be perfect? No. Not at first. Do I expect us to have fun? Yes. But don't get crazy. Do I plan on teaching these kids the basics, fundamentals and whatnot... Sure. I am hoping that most of them will have played a season or two and we can start working right from the get go. All I know is that I have one coach that I want to beat... and if that coach doesn't have a team in my age group... oh well... the rest of the season will be a breeze... with a Severe Breeze with some Lightning in it!!!
I can feel a storm brewin'!!!
